ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Caitlin (b.1986 to a small farming family in Natal) is a photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa. The conventional career path never ever called to Caitlin, it was therefore inevitable that the path less traveled would be the one chosen. Upon completing her Bachelor’s degree at Stellenbosch University she went on to study a year intensive photographic course at Vega, after which she spent some time traveling and working. For as long as Caitlin has been photographing, she has always held a fascination for the human story and how we relate to the world and those around us. Her first subjects were her family, friends and those she met along her travels, which has since grown into her professional photographic career. Her biggest inspiration and muses still remain those closest to her.

Caitlin’s work is fuelled by purpose and finding ways to tell the authentic stories of the people she works with, be that mothers, families, weddings or brands. Some of her most intimate work features her family and her recent body of work focused on exploring motherhood, which was sparked by the gift of becoming a mother herself. The heart behind all of the work that Caitlin creates is aimed at exploring human connection, purpose, timelessness and authenticity through images that will endure. Caitlin is available for both personal occasions and commissioned work.

‘Being able to photograph another human being in all of their humanness and vulnerability, I believe to be one of the most beautiful, intimate and privileged experiences one can have as a photographer. To me, photography feels like a timeless tool of service that I am able to offer other people and the world’.
